Mixer Parts & Accessories: Essential Replacements for Your Kitchen

Need A Part is a well-established family-owned business serving New Zealand customers since 2009, priding ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service, providing high-quality parts, and ensuring your satisfaction. We understand that keeping your mixer in perfect working order is essential for your cooking and baking success.

Why Mixer Parts Fail and How Replacement Parts Help

Grime, hardened batter, and residue can cause attachments like beaters, hooks, or whisks to jam or function poorly. Remove all attachments and scrub them gently using soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh scouring pads that may scratch the metal. Even with proper care, mixer parts naturally wear out over time due to regular use.

Common issues that require replacement parts include:

  • Worn or damaged beaters: The flat beater may not mix ingredients properly. This can cause uneven batter or dough.

The flat beater may not fit well on the mixer hub. A loose or stuck beater causes problems. Check for dirt or damage on the beater or hub.

  • Faulty attachment mechanisms: Some mixers come with various attachments such as dough hooks, beaters, and wire whisks. If you notice that these attachments are not securely locking into place or are wobbling during use, it can be frustrating and affect your mixing results.
  • Motor and belt problems: While some noise and vibration are normal during operation, excessive noise or unusual vibrations can indicate an underlying issue with your mixer. This could be caused by loose internal parts or worn-out gears.

Essential Mixer Components We Stock

Mixer Beaters and Attachments

Flat Beaters

The flat beater is a common attachment for stand mixers. It works well for mixing many everyday ingredients. This tool helps combine ingredients evenly without adding too much air.

The flat beater is probably the most versatile since it can be used to thoroughly mix nearly all kinds of mixtures. The flat beater is also suitable for a wide range of dishes, and works especially well for heavy mixtures like cakes, cookies, frostings, mashed potatoes, and even meatloaf.

Wire Whisks

Balloon whisk – Beats and mixes batter by allowing air to be whipped in. It is meant for meringues, whipping egg whites, fluffy frostings, and angel food cakes. Do not use this attachment on heavier batters, as it will bend the whisk.

Whisks are used to blend ingredients into a smooth texture. These are commonly used to whip egg whites into firm foam to make meringue, and cream into whipped cream. It can even be used for whipping egg whites that can be used for fluffy frostings and light cakes.

Dough Hooks

Dough hooks are designed to knead dough. They stretch and fold dough to develop gluten. Use dough hooks for bread and pizza dough. These essential attachments solve the problem of manual kneading, saving time and effort when preparing bread, pizza dough, and other yeast-based recipes.

Mixer Bowls and Bowl Components

Replacement mixer bowls address several common issues:

  • Cracked or damaged bowls that affect mixing performance
  • Worn bowl attachments that don't secure properly
  • Flex edge beater – Same shape as the flat beater, but one edge is covered with a silicone cover to help scrape the edge of the bowl as it mixes. This is good to use when the batter is sticking to the edge of the bowl due to certain "sticky" ingredients such as cream cheese or honey.

Motor Components and Internal Parts

Motor-related parts we supply include:

  • Mixer Motors: Essential when your mixer loses power or runs irregularly
  • Mixer Gears and Gearboxes: Excessive noise coming from your food mixer indicates underlying issues. Tighten loose components, lubricate moving parts, inspect and replace worn-out bearings, adjust attachment alignment, and address any structural issues contributing to the noise.
  • Mixer Belts: Critical for transferring power from motor to attachments
  • Mixer PCBs: Control boards that manage mixer operation and speed settings

Seals, Shafts, and Mechanical Components

These parts prevent common mechanical failures:

  • Mixer Seals: Prevent ingredient contamination and maintain proper operation
  • Mixer Shafts: Transfer rotational power to attachments
  • Mixer Feet: For continued safety and stability, swap out the entire set, not just the missing piece. Replacement feet are available from most major retailers. Making this quick fix prevents sliding or tipping during use.

Proper Maintenance Extends Part Life

Keeping your mixer attachments clean will maximise their lifespan. Place them on the top rack of your dishwasher or wash by hand with warm, soapy water. Rinse well and air dry.

Moisture is the enemy of aluminium and steel. Always store attachments in a dry cupboard or drawer.
